LA Golf At The Masters

It’s been a busy start to the season at AFGolfStore with a lot of new clubs being build through our build centre. One particular shaft has taken us by storm. The LA Golf shafts have been extremely popular and proved to perform superbly well in our fitting studios. And with the first Major of 2023, we’re excited to see LA Golf at the Masters.

Introducing Ping G430 Drivers. Go Farther. Faster.

The next generation of speed is here with their biggest jump in the speed-inducing driver. Introducing Ping G430 Drivers. Go Farther. Faster.

The first week on tour saw record numbers with the new G430 driver, especially in ball speeds, giving their tour staff players to make the transition to the latest model.

As well as their distance gains, Ping also believe their G430 range of drivers remain unequalled for forgiveness. More distance and unrivalled forgiveness are certainly going to be attractive statements for golfers in 2023.

Following on from the previous models, the G430 keeps 3 heads in the line with the MAX (draw bias) the SFT (Straight flight technology) and LST (Low spin technology).

The Technology

Optimised T9S+ Forged Face

A shallower, variable-thickness face is thinner for generating faster ball speed for our biggest distance gains to date.

Carbonfly Wrap

Exclusive to the 440cc LST is Carbonfly Wrap, a lightweight composite that covers the crown and wraps into the heel and toe sections of the skirt to save weight and lower the CG for more ball speed and higher MOI.

Sound Engineering

A new internal rib structure and increased curvature of the crown, skirt and sole fine-tunes clubbed frequencies to produce a desirable sound and impact experience.

Spinsistency

Contributing to the added ball speed is a variable roll radius that improves performance across the T9S+ forged face by reducing spin, resulting in faster speeds that generate consistently longer drives.

CG Shifters

In the MAX, a 25-gram, high-density tungsten backweight influences shot shape ±8 yards between Draw, Neutral and Fade settings. The LST (low spin) model provides ±7 yards of movement from a 22-gram tungsten weight in the three settings.

Straight Flight Technology

New to the SFT head is a moveable, 22-gram, tungsten backweight that positions the CG to deliver 13 yards of right-to-left shot bend in the Draw setting and another 7 yards in the Draw+ (20 yards total).

Forgiving Heads

Each of the models is engineered to ensure added distance and forgiveness for a variety of skill levels. The MAX (460cc) is the most forgiving and fits the widest range of golfers with three loft options (9°, 10.5°, 12°). The SFT (460cc) produces right-to-left shot correction in one loft (10.5°). At 440cc, the smaller tour-style LST is available in 9° and 10.5° lofts and best fits faster swing speeds.

Adjust Loft & Lie

To customise ball flight, Trajectory Tuning 2.0 utilizes a lightweight, aerodynamic hosel sleeve that provides eight positions, adjusting for loft (±1.5°) and lie (up to 3° flatter than std.).

G430 High launch Build

In comparison testing, slower-swing-speed golfers gained an average of nine yards off the tee from faster ball speed generated by the lighter system weight of the HL custom build (11g backweight, lightweight PING ALTA Quick shaft, Lamkin UTx grip). Available in the MAX and SFT only.

DRIVERS

FAIRWAYS

“To create a true breakthrough in performance, Callaway’s engineers have reimagined how a fairway wood is constructed. For golfers, it’s a total Paradym shift in distance and forgiveness. This completely new construction eliminates weight from the body and repositions it for unprecedented gains in speed and MOI. Taylormade’s NEW 2023 P7 Series Irons Are Here

With only 3 weeks until Christmas, the idea of new golf club launches are usually put on hold until the New Year. However, this year we’ve been treated early! Introducing the NEW P7 Series irons from Taylormade!

Including the upgraded P770, P7MB and P7MC. All three irons are now available for a FREE custom fitting before Christmas, with the release to store in January.

Let’s learn about the new irons below.

Let’s begin with the anticipated P770 iron. The former model was designed to pack more ball speed and forgiveness in a slimmer, more attractive looking iron than the P790.

This years model has been improved further to increase launch with the longer irons.

With a switch in centre of gravity placement for long and short irons we will now see the longer irons launch a lot easier.

FORGED HOLLOW BODY CONSTRUCTION

The forged hollow body construction gives golfers the best of both worlds; beauty
and performance. A soft 8620 carbon steel body is paired with an incredibly thin
forged 4140 steel face and Thru-Slot Speed Pocket™ for a design that is fast,
flexible and forgiving even in a compact head shape.

FLTD CG

FLTD CG strategically positions the centre of gravity (CG) the lowest in the long irons and progressively shifts higher throughout the set. Using up to 46g of tungsten, FLTD CG is designed to provide players with improved launch and playability in long irons and increase spin in the scoring irons.

SPEEDFOAM AIR

All new SpeedFoam Air is 69% less dense than its predecessor, creating mass savings that is redistributed to improve performance. SpeedFoam Air dampens vibrations for exquisite sound and feel while delivering a fast, flexible face.

TOUR-INSPIRED SHAPING

Featuring elegant refinements, including less offset in the long irons, the new P•770
is designed to fit the eye of a more discerning player with visual cues including a thin
topline, less offset, and shorter blade length when compared to the P•790.

THRU-SLOT SPEED POCKET

The Thru-Slot Speed Pocket™ provides increased face flexibility while preserving ball speed and distance on low face strikes.

TOUR-INSPIRED SHAPING

Direct input from Tour inspired the new shape of P•7MB, crafted for ultimate workability. The new design uses a shorter blade length, narrower sole width, and progressive offset design.

FACETED MUSCLE BACK GEOMETRY

A seamless blend of traditional muscle back iron performance with a contemporary look and design.

The updated back bar now uses symmetrical geometry to create a timeless look both in the playing position and in the bag.

COMPACT GRAIN FORGING

1025 carbon steel is 5X forged using a 2,000-ton press engineered to produce a tighter, more compact grain structure with fewer defects. It is designed to provide the most solid, consistent feel possible.

MACHINED FACE & GROOVES

Precision is paramount. Machining the face ensures precision and quality with our most
aggressive MX9 score line geometry for exacting shot making.

With precision playability and a hint of forgiveness, P·7MC caters to the game’s best ball strikers. These irons will celebrate all the work you’ve put in to get to this point and be the perfect tool for the continued grind.

TaylorMade’s Compact Grain Forging™ process uses 2,000 tons of pressure, more than double the industry standard.

The additional force gives us precision control at a micro level and produces a tighter grain structure, creating the best possible feel.

Golf’s First Customisable Putter Shaft

At AFGolfStore we are all about customising your game! From our FREE custom fitting service which will find the perfect clubs to match your specifications to adding the personal touches that make your game unique, from the right grip to your name stamped on your wedges!

We strive to offer our customers everything they need to make their game stand out on the course. In recent times we’ve been pleased to launch our premium shaft options which include Graphite Design and LA Golf as well as many more, but now there is an answer for your putter too!

Golf’s first customisable putter shaft which not only looks great but boasts beneficial performance gains too.

BGT CARBON STABILITY SHAFT

The stability shaft from BGT is the only shaft that can be installed into any putter, giving every golfer the chance to add more stability to every putting without buying a new putter.

It’s completely customisable as you can select the length, tip size and connector colour. BGT even have different models offering different styles.

At the AFGolf build centre we can have this shaft available within 3 working days with the opportunity to have it fit in store or to self install.

OUR VERDICT

BGT state that 99% of users have said they prefer it to a standard steel shaft, so we wanted to test it for ourselves.

Fitted into an Odyssey #7 with a double bend neck, the install was EASY! The old shaft is cut at around 9 inches above the head and the stability shaft sits over the old shaft by approx 2 inches.

After the glue set we were good to go.

The first note was the weight of the putter. The putter immediately felt a little heavier and more sturdy / balanced at address. With a lighter putter I definitely lose control with my stroke, especially on the longer putts.

The stability shaft offers only 1º of talk, which is essentially nothing with a putter. With no face deflection / obvious twisting the putter became noticeably solid from outside 20 foot. Dispersion was cleaner with a consistent roll and outcome. In comparison, the Odyssey #7 before hand was offering a more scattered outcome, and even though it was all a matter of inches, I definitely feel I have a chance of holing putts from a longer range now.

It looks great but is a lot wider than a regular shaft so that is all a matter of opinion. If you are looking for a more stable putting stroke then this is definitely a great option which can be played almost immediately at AFGolfStore.
