Titleist T350 Iron: A Game Improvement Concept

Today, I want to talk to you about the new Titleist T350 Iron. This iron is part of our demo set and it’s introducing a new concept for Titleist, being their first game improvement iron that features a forged face. Let’s dive into the details of what makes this iron stand out.

Forged Face Construction

The front edge of the Titleist T350 Iron features a forged steel construction, providing golfers with more feedback on and off-centre hits. This allows players to differentiate between different types of shots. Unlike some game improvement irons that can feel firm and clicky, the T350 Iron offers a more solid feel and sound, resembling that of a players iron.

Forged Tungsten Weighting

Within the Titleist T350 Iron, there is tungsten weighting in the toe and heel of the club. This weighting is designed to pull the weight towards the perimeter of the club, making it more forgiving on off-centre hits. Additionally, the tungsten helps to lower the centre of gravity, resulting in a high launch angle despite the strong loft of the iron.

Progressive Design

Titleist employs progressive design elements throughout their T Series irons, including the T350 Iron. This design approach is evident in the club’s construction, as well as the choice of materials and weighting distribution. The T350 Iron is tailored to provide optimal performance across different iron types.

Custom Fitting Options

One of the standout features of the Titleist T350 Iron is the range of custom fitting options available. With a variety of shaft options such as Dynamic Gold, Project X, KBS, and Nippon, players can find the perfect fit for their game. Additionally, the fitting club’s adjustable hosel allows for easy adjustments to loft and lie angles, offering a simple yet effective fitting solution.

Target Audience

The Titleist T350 Iron is primarily aimed at golfers looking for a game improvement style iron. While it is recommended for players with mid-teen handicaps and above, the versatility of the club has been demonstrated by professionals like Will Zalatoris, who have incorporated it into their bag. Ultimately, the best way to determine if the T350 Iron is right for you is to test it out on the course and see how it performs in your hands.

Conclusion

The Titleist T350 Iron represents a new direction for Titleist, offering golfers a game improvement iron with the feel and performance of a players iron. With its innovative design features, custom fitting options, and wide appeal, the T350 Iron is sure to make an impact on the game. If you’re in the market for a new iron that combines forgiveness and power, the Titleist T350 Iron is definitely worth a try.

Introducing the New Titleist Vokey SM10 Wedges – Engineered for Lower Flight and Maximum Spin

Titleist recently announced the launch of their newest Vokey SM10 wedges .

As expected from the #1 wedge on tour, the SM10 offers improvements in flight, feel, and spin. I had the chance to learn more about the new Vokey wedges, and here are some of the key features golfers can expect from the SM10:

Progressive Centre of Gravity

The progressive CG placement provides a lower, more controlled trajectory and tighter dispersion from your lowest to highest lofted wedge. The 46-52 degree wedges feature a lower CG for better distance gapping and a more solid feel. The higher lofts (54-62) have an upward shifted CG for a lower ball flight.

Optimised TX9 Grooves

The patented Spin Milled grooves on the SM10 are individually cut for each loft and finish.

Narrower, deeper grooves on lower lofts and wider, shallower grooves on higher lofts maximise spin consistency. A micro-texture between grooves also enhances control on partial shots.

Shot Versatility

With 6 different sole grinds and a range of loft, bounce, and grind combinations, the SM10 offers enhanced shot versatility around the greens. Being fit for the right wedge setup helps golfers unlock creativity and proper turf interaction.

New Nickel Finish

The SM10 comes in 3 finishes: Tour Chrome, Jet Black, and an all-new nickel finish. The nickel provides a classic, forged look at address. Custom raw finish is also available.

Enhanced Profiles & Shaping

The shaping and profiles are optimised by loft, with a smaller profile on 46-52 degrees and larger footprint on 56-62 degrees. This progressive look sets up confidence at address.

The Vokey SM10 seems to cover all the bases – better feel, optimal flight, maximum spin, and versatility to execute any shot. Master Craftsman Bob Vokey continues to lead the way in wedge innovation and performance. And with Vokey’s renowned custom options, you can get an SM10 wedge tailored to your game.

Coming to AFGolfStore fitting studios from 15th February 2024!

Will you be trying the new SM10 wedges? What do you think of the look of Titleist’s latest Vokey offering? Let me know in the comments!

The Best Hybrids Of 2023

Hybrids have become a popular choice for golfers as they serve as a replacement for long irons and lofted woods, we are going to help you with your choice making by reviewing the best hybrids of 2023.

In recent years, there has been a trend towards using more lofted woods, such as seven woods and nine woods, in place of hybrids. However, hybrids still have their place in the golf bag and continue to be available for those who love them.

They blend between the woods and irons and are a great alternative to a long iron. Let’s take you through our top 3 performers of 2023.

Third Place

The TSR 2 takes the third spot on our list. It is a simple and clean product, with the ability to change the weight in the bottom of the head for customisable launch dynamics.

The adjustability of this hybrid, including the ability to change the lie angle, makes it a popular choice for players who struggle with left and right misses.

Additionally, the release of the new T-Series irons from Titleist has led to increased interest in blending hybrids with irons, further contributing to the TSR 2’s popularity.

Second Place

The best hybrids of 2023, second place goes to the stealth 2 hybrid by TaylorMade.

TaylorMade has always been known for producing high-quality hybrids, and the stealth 2 is no exception. It features twist face technology, which provides forgiveness on off-centre strikes.

This hybrid has been well-received, especially

when paired with the stealth irons. Golfers who prefer to use a five iron or have doubts about going for a longer iron have found the stealth 2 to be a great alternative.

First Place

And finally, taking the top spot on our list is the Ping G430. This family of woods has been sensational in 2023.

The G430 hybrid is praised for its clean look and solid performance off the face.

The stronger lofts of the G430 irons have led golfers to seek a three or four hybrid to

complement their five iron. The feel and overall performance of the G430 have made it incredibly popular among players and it’s our number one for the best hybrids of 2023.

The Challenge of Hybrids

As someone who loves irons, hybrids present a challenge for me. I have struggled with hybrids in the past, and hitting them for extended periods of time is not something I particularly enjoy. However, I understand why they are popular and why many golfers find them to be a valuable addition to their bags. Hybrids offer versatility and can be a useful tool, especially for those looking to replace long irons and achieve better trajectory and control.

The Importance of Loft and Launch Angle

When it comes to hybrids, two important factors to consider are loft and launch angle. In recent years, it has become evident that hybrids, especially for players with lower swing speeds, have been coming in too flat. While they may provide the desired overall yardage, they often struggle to carry hazards or stop on the green. The goal of hybrids is to replace long irons and provide the ability to flight the ball into the green. To achieve this, it is essential to have a higher launch angle and steeper descent angle, allowing the ball to stop more effectively.

The Hybrid Experience

Throughout my testing of hybrids, I have noticed that the drop-off in performance on mishits is more pronounced compared to fairway woods. This can make hybrids more challenging for some players, as the margin for error is smaller. However, there are undoubtedly certain hybrids that offer excellent performance and are well-suited to individual players’ needs.

Conclusion

So there we have it, the best hybrids of 2023, or so we think. Hybrids are an integral part of many golfers’ bags. While I may not be a fan personally, I recognise their value and understand why they are popular among golfers of all levels. In our best hybrids of 2020 list, the TSR 2, stealth 2, and Ping G430 stood out as exceptional options. Each hybrid offers unique features and benefits, catering to different player preferences. It’s important to find the right hybrid for your game and embrace the advantages they can provide. Golf is all about finding the right tools to enhance your performance, and hybrids certainly have their place on the course.

Looking Ahead

As we move into 2024, there will be new hybrid options to explore and test. TaylorMade will be introducing a new hybrid model, and the Ping G430 will continue to make its mark on the golfing world. We look forward to bringing you more exciting content and product reviews in the coming year. 2023 High Handicap Iron Review

It’s time for the 2023 high handicap iron review. Throughout this year, there have been some phenomenal irons in the market, especially for high handicaps. Brands like Srixon, Callaway, and Ping have released some incredible irons that have made it really tough to narrow down the top three. I know there might be some controversy around our choices, and I’m excited to hear your opinions. So, let’s dive into the review!

Third Place

Coming in at number three is the T350 from Titleist. This iron, released in August, is a revamp of the T300.

It features a super powerful forged face, providing that lovely feel that Titleist irons are known for. Regardless of your handicap, you’re going to enjoy hitting this iron.

It not only delivers great ball speed, but it also looks fantastic.

The T350 has been a popular choice among mid handicappers,

who have used its long irons to combo into the T200. With its visually long appearance and classic design, this iron is a great option for high handicappers.

Second Place

Coming in at number two is the JPX 923 Hot Metal HL from Mizuno.

Unlike other irons on this list, the JPX 923 HL is not all about ball speed. It is specifically designed for high launch, catering to the needs of high handicappers with slower swing speeds.

Many high handicappers struggle to get the

height and landing angle they desire due to the stronger lofts in other irons.

The JPX 923 HL solves this problem with additional loft and technology that helps golfers get the ball up faster and higher. This iron has been incredibly successful, especially among golfers with slower swing speeds.

First Place

And now, our top pick for high handicappers in 2023 is the Ping G430. While we ranked it as number three for mid handicappers, we believe it’s going to be very difficult to beat this iron for high handicappers.

The Ping G430 is a powerful and versatile iron that excels in all aspects.

It offers a brilliant sound, feel, and appearance. The custom fitting options and wedge options are also impressive.

Ping has done an outstanding job with this iron, making it our number one choice for high handicappers.

Conclusion

So, there you have it – our high handicap iron review for 2023. It was a challenging task to pick just three irons from the many great options available.

The Srixon ZX4 and Paradym X were also outstanding choices, but ultimately, the T350, JPX 923 HL, and Ping G430 stood out as the top performers for high handicappers.

These irons offer the perfect combination of forgiveness, distance, and playability.

Remember, when choosing an iron for your high handicap game, consider factors like launch angle, stopping power on the green, and ball speed. Make sure to test out these irons and find the one that suits your game best in a FREE custom fitting at AFGolfStore.

The Top High-Speed Drivers of 2023

We’re going to review the top high-speed drivers of 2023.

With so many great drivers and varying models to choose from it’s always difficult and incredibly subjective, to whittle down to just three. Let’s dive in and see what we have chosen, based on custom fitting results in 2023 at each of our stores.

Third Place

Starting off at number three is the TaylorMade Stealth 2 Plus.

Usually, the second generation of a product isn’t as good as the first, but TaylorMade have done an excellent job with the Stealth 2 Plus.

TaylorMade drivers are known for their performance, and this one is no exception.

The ability to adjust the weight in the bottom of the head is critical for high-speed players, and this driver delivers.

Overall, the ball speeds off the face have been impressive, making it a solid choice for any golfer.

Second Place

the top high-speed drivers of 2023

Coming in at number two is the Titleist TSR3.

This driver has been on the market since the end of 2022, and it has proven to be a great product.

Titleist has always excelled in creating low-spinning drivers for high-speed players.

The TSR3’s weight port at the back allows for easy customization, which is crucial for golfers with fast swing speeds.

The classic design and reliable performance make it a top choice for strong players.

First Place

the top high-speed drivers of 2023

Taking the top spot is the Ping LST G430 with low spin technology.

This driver has been a revelation in 2023.

The solid sound and consistent ball speeds make it a standout performer.

Despite its unconventional appearance, the LST G430 has won over many golfers with its control over spin.

While it may not be the most visually appealing driver to some, its performance more than makes up for it. For golfers who swing hard, this driver is a great competitor.

After testing all three drivers, it’s clear that distance isn’t the only factor to consider for high-speed players. It’s crucial to find a driver that offers control and allows golfers to shape their shots effectively. All three drivers we reviewed have excelled in these areas and have been outstanding choices in 2023.

What does the future hold? The TSR3 and the LST G430 will continue into 2024, providing golfers with reliable options. However, there are rumors of a new TaylorMade driver on the horizon. Although we haven’t seen or tested it yet, there have been some clues and speculation. We are excited to see what innovations TaylorMade brings to the table next year.

In conclusion, the top high-speed drivers of 2023 have been impressive. The TaylorMade Stealth 2 Plus, Titleist TSR3, and Ping LST G430 have all performed exceptionally well.

The ability to adjust weight and control spin has been crucial for high-speed players, and these drivers have delivered. While each driver has its unique characteristics, they all offer solid performance and distance.

Remember, this is only our opinion and an unbiased one at that. We have judged this on what has seemed popular in this years custom fittings! For anyone seeking a new driver, you must enjoy a FREE fitting with us to find the perfect driver for you!

The Hottest Clubs Of 2023

The Hottest Golf Clubs of 2023

It’s that time of year again where we begin to reflect on the most popular equipment choices of the year.

Rob from AF Golf Store Cambridge gives his take on some of the hottest clubs he’s fit players for so far this year. Here’s a rundown of the brands and models he’s seeing excel across all club categories.

Kicking off the hottest golf clubs of 2023 is the driver. Rob has been really impressed with the Callaway Paradym driver family. With 3 head options to fit differing needs and an adjustable hosel sleeve, this driver has been a great fit for many golfers. Plus there is a wide range of shaft offerings.

The look, feel, and performance have been great for a range of player abilities. The adjustability makes fine-tuning launch conditions a breeze.

Paradym X, Paradym and Paradym triple diamond are the three offerings with a driver to suit every player from improvers needing to stop the dreaded slice through to high level golfers who require a low spin more precise club.

The Titleist TSR fairway woods (TSR 1, 2, 3 models) also got high marks from Rob. There’s something for everyone here with multiple designs to alter launch and spin.

Low to high swing speeds are covered, and the adjustable hosels allow for dialing in proper gapping. Titleist have also created an additional head for the season in the TSR2+ which is a deeper head and lower loft to help those golfers who struggle with driver. More precision can be found here.

Staying within the Titleist family, Rob pointed to the TSR hybrids for their forgiveness and ability to shape shots. Weight screws on the sole on the TSR 3 hybrid promote workability and the loft sleeves allow the hybrids to be precisely gapped with the irons.

As for Irons, Rob could look no further than Ping’s new G430 irons which he says shine for improving players that need extra forgiveness and launch.

By strengthening lofts and adding an extra wedge compared to traditional sets, the G430 promotes optimal gapping and ball flight.

A wide range of shaft and grip options enables a fully customised fit.

TaylorMade’s MG4 wedges impressed Rob with their well-rounded performance for both feel and spin. The variety of grinds and bounce options dial in wedge play, while maintaining ball speeds thanks to progressive groove optimisation. The new spin tread technology angles micro grooves at 45º between the main grooves to enhance spin and grip, particularly in wet conditions.

The top putter pick was the Odyssey Versa family.

The alignment aids on the rear help optimise aim, and the insert and Stroke Lab shaft improve consistency. With all the fitting options, there’s a Versa model suited for any stroke type.

2023 has been a great year for golf equipment. Get fitted and dial in your game with some of these great club releases!

The New Vokey Design 60 A Grind Wedge

The New Vokey Design 60 A Grind Wedge: Built for Firmer Conditions

Vokey has added a new lob wedge option to their lineup – the 60 degree A Grind. The new vokey design 60 A Grind wedge is designed for players who want a wedge that can smoothly glide under the ball from firmer lies like tight turf and firm bunkers.

The A Grind was developed through conversations between Vokey’s Tour Rep Aaron Dill and major champion Geoff Ogilvy. Ogilvy provided feedback on how Australian golf courses compared to American courses, noting the firmer conditions. This led Dill to take Ogilvy’s favored 60.04L wedge and modify it by removing the bounce ribbon to create the A Grind.

With only 4 degrees of effective bounce, the A Grind has a sole grind that allows it to move through firmer turf and bunkers with less resistance. The smoother sole promotes a faster feeling through the turf. While very versatile, this low bounce wedge does require precise delivery at impact to be optimized.

The 60 A Grind is currently available in a raw finish and only in right handed models. It is offered in limited quantities. Players like US Open champion Wyndham Clark have already put this new Vokey wedge into play.

Golfers looking for a lob wedge to handle firmer conditions and tighter lies should take a look at the new Vokey Design 60 A Grind. Its smooth sole and low bounce profile make it ideal for gliding under shots with minimal turf interaction.

The Vokey SM9 wedges are Titleist’s most technologically advanced wedges to date.

They feature a number of improvements over previous models, including new Spin Milled grooves that are cut to the edge of the clubface for maximum spin, a localised heat treatment process that doubles the durability of the grooves, and a raised center of gravity (CG) that promotes a lower flight and more spin.

The SM9 wedges are also available in a wider range of lofts, grinds, and finishes than ever before, so you can find the perfect wedge to match your game.

Matt Fitzpatrick Wins The 2023 Alfred Dunhill Championship

Matt Fitzpatrick wins the 2023 Alfred Dunhill Championship by three strokes over Ryan Fox, Marcus Armitage, and Matthew Southgate. After an extremely wet weekend the event was reduced to 54 holes after heavy rain wiped out play on Saturday and Sunday.

Credit: The Times

Following the jubilations of the Ryder Cup victory in Rome the weekend before, Matt started the final round with a two-shot lead, and he extended his lead to three shots with a birdie on the first hole. He then made a bogey on the second hole, but he birdied the fourth hole to regain his three-shot lead.

Fitzpatrick continued to play solid golf throughout the round, and he made a birdie on the 17th hole to seal the victory. He finished the tournament with a round of 66, and he had a total score of 19-under-par.

Fitzpatrick’s victory was his ninth professional title, and it was his first victory on the DP World Tour since 2021. He also won the 2022 U.S. Open.

San Diego Union Tribune

This victory at the Dunhill Links Championship was a special one, as he was playing with his mother, Susan, in the pro-am event, which together they won the team prize as well with a total of -35.

Matt’s equipment is a custom fitters dream with a fantastic variety of equipment, all of different brands that maximise his performance. Whilst one brand bags do work, Matt showcases what a lot of our fitters believe in, which is to find clubs that do the best job for you, not just choose clubs because of the name.

With a mixture of Titleist, Ping and even Cobra, he has yet again shown his performances lead to success.
