Introducing the New Titleist Vokey SM10 Wedges – Engineered for Lower Flight and Maximum Spin

Titleist recently announced the launch of their newest Vokey SM10 wedges .

As expected from the #1 wedge on tour, the SM10 offers improvements in flight, feel, and spin. I had the chance to learn more about the new Vokey wedges, and here are some of the key features golfers can expect from the SM10:

Progressive Centre of Gravity

The progressive CG placement provides a lower, more controlled trajectory and tighter dispersion from your lowest to highest lofted wedge. The 46-52 degree wedges feature a lower CG for better distance gapping and a more solid feel. The higher lofts (54-62) have an upward shifted CG for a lower ball flight.

Optimised TX9 Grooves

The patented Spin Milled grooves on the SM10 are individually cut for each loft and finish.

Narrower, deeper grooves on lower lofts and wider, shallower grooves on higher lofts maximise spin consistency. A micro-texture between grooves also enhances control on partial shots.

Shot Versatility

With 6 different sole grinds and a range of loft, bounce, and grind combinations, the SM10 offers enhanced shot versatility around the greens. Being fit for the right wedge setup helps golfers unlock creativity and proper turf interaction.

New Nickel Finish

The SM10 comes in 3 finishes: Tour Chrome, Jet Black, and an all-new nickel finish. The nickel provides a classic, forged look at address. Custom raw finish is also available.

Enhanced Profiles & Shaping

The shaping and profiles are optimised by loft, with a smaller profile on 46-52 degrees and larger footprint on 56-62 degrees. This progressive look sets up confidence at address.

The Vokey SM10 seems to cover all the bases – better feel, optimal flight, maximum spin, and versatility to execute any shot. Master Craftsman Bob Vokey continues to lead the way in wedge innovation and performance. And with Vokey’s renowned custom options, you can get an SM10 wedge tailored to your game.

Coming to AFGolfStore fitting studios from 15th February 2024!

The New Vokey Design 60 A Grind Wedge

The New Vokey Design 60 A Grind Wedge: Built for Firmer Conditions

Vokey has added a new lob wedge option to their lineup – the 60 degree A Grind. The new vokey design 60 A Grind wedge is designed for players who want a wedge that can smoothly glide under the ball from firmer lies like tight turf and firm bunkers.

The A Grind was developed through conversations between Vokey’s Tour Rep Aaron Dill and major champion Geoff Ogilvy. Ogilvy provided feedback on how Australian golf courses compared to American courses, noting the firmer conditions. This led Dill to take Ogilvy’s favored 60.04L wedge and modify it by removing the bounce ribbon to create the A Grind.

With only 4 degrees of effective bounce, the A Grind has a sole grind that allows it to move through firmer turf and bunkers with less resistance. The smoother sole promotes a faster feeling through the turf. While very versatile, this low bounce wedge does require precise delivery at impact to be optimized.

The 60 A Grind is currently available in a raw finish and only in right handed models. It is offered in limited quantities. Players like US Open champion Wyndham Clark have already put this new Vokey wedge into play.

Golfers looking for a lob wedge to handle firmer conditions and tighter lies should take a look at the new Vokey Design 60 A Grind. Its smooth sole and low bounce profile make it ideal for gliding under shots with minimal turf interaction.

The Vokey SM9 wedges are Titleist’s most technologically advanced wedges to date.

They feature a number of improvements over previous models, including new Spin Milled grooves that are cut to the edge of the clubface for maximum spin, a localised heat treatment process that doubles the durability of the grooves, and a raised center of gravity (CG) that promotes a lower flight and more spin.

The SM9 wedges are also available in a wider range of lofts, grinds, and finishes than ever before, so you can find the perfect wedge to match your game.

Wyndham Clark Wins The US Open

In a stunning display of golf, Wyndham Clark wins the US Open, overcoming a great four day battle mostly lead by Rickie Fowler and Rory Mcilroy.

This remarkable triumph is Wyndham’s first Major victory and only his second tour Victory, however, what makes this win so special is after qualifying for the PGA Tour in the 2018/19 season, Wyndham recorded his first ever tour victory at the Wells Fargo in May of 2023, only one month prior to his first Major. His patience has certainly paid as he has hit his peak form at the perfect time!

An intense week of golf at the LA Country Club which stood true to the US Open tradition of fast greens and the toughest of rough to catch out  any player who lost his accuracy.

After a very low scoring Thursday, as expected the course got tougher and scoring stabilised with the headlines being stolen by Rickie Fowler and his welcomed return to form following his 8-under 62 on Thursday was backed up by steady rounds to give him a 54 hole total of -10.

Always in the mix, but flying more under the radar compared to Rickie was Wyndham Clark who also managed a 54 hole total of -10. With Rory Mcilroy also in the mix, it definitely felt

as though Wyndham was the low key underdog heading into Sunday.

As Sunday came, more noise began on whether Rory Mcilroy could find another Major after a 9 year drought or if Rickie Fowler could complete his return to form with his first Major. Very little noise was on the man who ultimately kept his cool and took home the 123rd US Open with an incredible final round. Although he was under pressure from Rory until the final putt on 18, Wyndham continued to do his job so well and claim his first Major.

Bounces vary amongst the grind options from 4 to 14, depending on a players attack angle and the conditions they tend to play, there will be an option for any golfer.

So when you decide to get new wedges, with so many options available, don’t assume they all do the same job, as each one has a unique purpose.
