AFGolfStore Proud To Support The MK Dons SET

AFGolfStore have now been in Milton Keynes just over 6 weeks and the team have loved getting to know local golfers and becoming a part of the community. It is important to us to build trust and help local golfers improve their golfing game, after all, golf is our shared passion! So, helping the community in anyway is always a goal of ours and this week we have been proud to support the MK Dons SET.

What Is MK Dons SET?

“MK Dons Sport and Education Trust (SET) is an independent charity aligned to Milton Keynes Dons using the brand of the club as one of its tools of engagement to improve the lives and experiences of its local community”. ~ MK DONS SET.

As sports people ourselves, in the world of golf we are always striving to offer fantastic experiences and opportunities for every person to enjoy. So we feel this charity is a great cause and one AFGolfStore are proud to have supported.

Supporting The Trust

Our journey to supporting the Trust started in January when we found out we would officially be moving to Milton Keynes. We were keen to build exposure in the area through supporting the MK Dons and on Tuesday 5th April, we did just that by sponsoring the match ball for the League one tie between the Dons and Crewe. A fantastic opportunity for our new store to meet new faces and build relationships within the community. A well deserved win by the Dons to see their promotion hopes continue was a huge bonus to go along with the evening.

Upon offering to sponsor a game, we were made aware of the MK Dons Golf Day in support of the SET. A fantastic day run by former Dons player, Dean Bowditch, which saw over 20 teams of golfers compete at Three Locks Golf Club. AFGolfStore supported the day with prizes for nearest the pin, longest drive and auction prizes to help raise funds. We also had Chris Hattersley (Marketing Manager & Coach – AFGolfStore) and Elliott Appleby (MK Store Coach & Fitter) offering their services in a beat the pro event on the 9th hole. A charitable donation gave the player the chance to win some prizes by getting closer that their opposing professional.

AFGolfStore are delighted to have raised over £400 in their efforts to support the day, funds we are sure will help the MK Dons SET. On top of this we are happy to now have met a lot of new faces and begun our quest to become a part of the MK community, who have welcomed us so warmly to the area. Thank you.

What’s Next

We will continue to do our part in the future with the aim to raise more funds In any way we can including team fun runs etc. In the meantime however, we will be happy to welcome you to our store, Dons fans or not, and support you with your golf for the coming season, whether it be retail, FREE custom fitting, golf lessons or just some advice!
