Alfred Dunhill Links Championship 2023: Preview
The Alfred Dunhill Links Championship is one of the more unique tournaments on the golfing calendar, with players competing over three of Scotland’s finest links courses: Carnoustie, Kingsbarns, and the Old Course at St Andrews.
The tournament also has a different format, with two separate competitions taking place at the same time: an individual professional tournament and a pro-am team competition featuring some of the world’s most popular, celebrity-amateur golfers playing alongside the professionals.
The Players
The individual competition features a field of some of the world’s best golfers, including defending champion Ryan Fox, not to mention some of the Team Europe winners from the Ryder Cup in Matt Fitzpatrick who will partner his mum, Tommy Fleetwood and Scotland’s own, Robert Macintyre.
The team competition also features a star-studded cast, with celebrities such as Gareth Bale, Piers Morgan, Kevin Pietersen and Stuart Broad.
The Courses
The three courses used for the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship are all world-class, and they will test the players to the limit.
Carnoustie is known for its brutal finishing stretch, Kingsbarns is a challenging but fair links course, and the Old Course is the most iconic golf course in the world.
In recent years the weather has played its part as you’d expect in Scotland! It always makes for a testing, yet entertaining event.
2022 Champion – Ryan Fox
Last year Ryan Fox took the victory, finishing one shot ahead of Alex Noren and Callum Shinkwin. He had seven birdies and three bogeys on Sunday to finish 15-under par overall to win.
