Mizuno T24 Wedge Preview

In this Mizuno T24 wedge preview we will give you an insight into the newest wedge in the Mizuno T-Series wedge line.

The first big difference between the T24 and it’s predecessor, the T22, is the look. In the newer model you will notice a smaller, more refined look which Mizuno class as a teardrop look.

This is to give a neater, tighter look behind the ball, however the face remains the same size offering the same great level of ball striking.

Our first impression of the wedge is it looks great. Against the Vokey or Taylormade’s new MG4, the T24 doesn’t look out of place. It’s premium look is incredibly appealing on the eye.

The T24 wedges are grain-flow HD-forged from 1025 stainless with a boron kicker. The high density material behind the face offers Mizuno’s classic feel and response.

The next difference is Mizuno’s is the introduction of the V Sole grind. An additional grind to the T22’s 4 options. They’ve all carried over with the addition of V. This is inspired by their tour players who enjoy a higher bounce wedge whilst increasing relief from the toe and heel for better look, feel and shot making capabilities.

Quadcut+ grooves with HydroFlow microgrooves allows a tighter groove pattern for increased spin rates on all shots and this allows for maintained performance in wet conditions as the microgrooves will release moisture quickly giving you great response around the greens.

In our opinion, for years golfers of all levels will talk about the quality of Mizuno irons when coming to get a custom fittng, however, wedges often get overlooked as the go-to tends to be Vokey or other brands. However, the T24 certainly falls into the category of a classic Mizuno product, with great feel and performance and now with the refined design the look is just as good too!

Taylormade MG4 Wedges Have Arrived

Taylormade MG4 Wedges Have arrived! An update on the MG3, however only subtle changes separate the MG4 with previous models and that’s because the Milled Grind series have been so well received that it’s not necessary to change much.

The head shape and overall design are mostly untouched, with the milled grind sole visually the same as MG3.

The big difference in 2023, compared to the 2021 model is the face. In 2021, Taylormade introduced their micro-rib design to increase spin. In 2023 there is now micro-groove called ‘spin tread grooves’ set at 45º to enhance spin with a square and open club face, so greenside control is increased.

That’s not all, the new groove pattern reduces water affecting strike during wet conditions.

Spin Tread Grooves

Deep laser etching between the grooves provides a channel for the water to escape upon impact, maintaining spin in wet conditions.

Increased Flange Thickness

This design offers improved sound and feel on shots struck across the face.

Raw Face

The raw surface and toe area works in conjunction
with the new Spin Tread Grooves to provide the best spin properties in wet conditions.

Tour Inspired Shape

The reshaped top line, leading edge and hosel blend to create a smoother and fuller look for improved shot making.

Lighter Weight Tour Issue Shaft

A light True Temper Tour Issue 115g shaft helps generate more feel.

Machined Sole

A fully machined sole ensures the exact grind and bounce geometry every time.

The MG4 launch comes a matter of days after the P790 was released and we believe the two will blend perfectly in a set.

The MG4 comes with 3 bounce and 3 grind options as standard as well as the TW Tiger Grind. Also available in Chrome or Black finish.

It is now available in our fitting studios as well as our build centre where we can match in the shafts from your irons into the new wedge options.

Stamping The Way Forward To Better Wedge Play

Having great wedges that are custom fit to your needs in terms of loft, length, shaft, bounce, grind and grip is one thing. Being able to personalize your wedges to make them bespoke and stand out in the bag is certainly another.

Our Workshop is always looking for ways to give that extra little colour and spice to your new clubs.

The team have invested in a new stamping and paint set which means that we are able to put 4 different styles of stamping onto a new wedge, or even add to your current wedges. It will take 24 hours from design to completion and our workshop team will be on hand to guide you through the design process.

This funky new service costs £19.99 per wedge or £50 for 3 wedges, can be ordered online or in store.

The 4 main styles that we are offering are

Straight – this can be any word in a straight line of the back of the head

Dancing – this means the letter move around at slight angles to give the illusion the words are dancing across your wedge

Two Lines – this allows to two lines of straight text, ideal for children’s names for example

Snowdrop – 2 letters for example initials, 10 times random all over the back of the wedge.
