Club Fitting

Are you 100% sure your clubs are right for you? Straight off the rack golf clubs are great, but not for everyone! Every golfer is different, from size to technique and ability meaning every golfer will need clubs specific to their needs (which, for some may just be off the rack!) from the club type, flexibility, loft and lie and so on.

Loft & Lie

Did you know, when practicing on hard surfaces including mats, in time your loft and lie angles will begin to alter. It’s not uncommon to hear golfers say comments such as “my 7iron goes the same distance as my 8iron”, and low and behold we discover the loft and lie angles have adjusted causing gapping issues as well as strike and direction issues. We offer a loft and lie service that will allow you to hit shots whilst we check all of your clubs, making corrections where necessary to ensure your clubs are offering the gapping distances you were promised on purchase. Gapping

This is something we encourage all golfers to be doing at least twice a year. A gapping allows us identify how far the ball goes with each club ensuring the gaps between clubs become consistent. By knowing how far you actually hit a golf ball with each club will allow you to hit more greens and save shots! remove the guess work. We encourage an early season gapping for the warmer conditions and again later in the year if you enjoy winter (colder) golf. Gapping sessions are available over all 3 stores, 7 days a week.   • Trackman4 – The tour choice in radars when identifying key data from club and ball. Trackman helps us understand our customers specifications when looking to make technical changes or become equipped with new clubs.
  • A huge range of club choices and models. With access to all the leading brands and models in our studios, you will have no problem finding the right club for you.
  • Extensive choice in shaft and grips.
  • Indoor putting green with SAM PuttLab. A similar concept in Trackman for putting.
  • Most importantly, a friendly, honest member of our staff.

Peterborough’s Solution To Better Golf

Peterborough is home to many fantastic golfing venues, from Elton Furze to Peterborough Milton, Thorpe Wood to Orton Meadows and so on. AFGolfStore based in Yaxley, offers golfers an indoor solution to better golf 12 months of the year, with everything a golfer needs to play better golf under one roof.

 

As we approach our 1st Birthday in Peterborough it’s a great time to reflect and look to the future and how we can continue to support the local community with their games. In this blog we will take a look at what we offer and how you can benefit from our services.

 

We opened our doors in April 2021, still in the middle of a global pandemic, but on the back of already seeing a spike in golf participation from the summer of 2020, it was fantastic to receive such a great reception from the local community, especially as our staff are local to the town themselves. In the past 12 months we have continued to grow, meeting new golfers and getting involved with local golf days and events. We have in recent months developed with the introduction of our build centre upstairs located next to our putting green. Our express build service fronted by local, Posh fan, Lewis Daff, gives our customers the opportunity to have their new clubs build in just 72 hours, skipping the lead times of up to 12 weeks on some models. We have seen a fantastic uptake in this service, keeping Lewis busy, which is great as his passion for club building and repairs is apparent for all to see.

The list goes on. I must admit, our initial reviews are all positive on everything we have seen. Great looking products as well as some incredible feels. The carbon driver, Stealth from TaylorMade has been a big talking point and it’s a driver I was drawn towards with all the hype surrounding it, however I was personally impressed with the performance of LTDx from Cobra and upon testing all the new products this gave me my best results, which if I’m honest, that wasn’t necessarily what I expected.

 

Sometimes it’s easy to see a new product and love the look of it (in my case, Stealth) and have your heart set on it, however it is vital you justify any purchase by the performance benefits the product gives you. Often, you will get the best out of the products you didn’t go in store for.
