Often regarded as the DP World Tours Flagship event, the BMW PGA Championship is set for some of the world’s best to do battle in the build up to the 2023 Ryder Cup.
Always a star-studded event with big name previous winners including Rory Mcilroy, Team Europe Captain, Luke Donald, Tyrrell Hatton as well as last year’s winner, Shane Lowry, this year is set to be no different with many Ryder Cup players playing their final event before the biggest match in golf!
Shane Lowry won the 2022 BMW PGA Championship. He finished with a score of 199 (-17), one shot ahead of Rory McIlroy and Jon Rahm. It was Lowry’s sixth victory on the DP World Tour, his second at a Rolex Series event, and his first at the BMW PGA Championship.
Lowry started the tournament with rounds of 66 and 68 to take a two-shot lead into the final round. He then shot a bogey-free 65 to secure the victory. It was Lowry’s first win since the 2019 Open Championship.
The 2022 BMW PGA Championship was held at Wentworth Club in Virginia Water, England. The tournament was reduced to 54 holes with no play on Friday after the death of Queen Elizabeth II on Thursday.
